Draw a line and reveal a new field of color
Painting Cut is an area-capturing game where horizontal or vertical boundaries divide the screen. Complete a line to paint the side without an obstacle, then keep expanding your colored area until you reach the level's required percentage.
One well-placed boundary can claim a large space, while several smaller cuts can offer another route to the target. Soft colors and seasonal backgrounds give every successful division a visible sense of progress.
Watch until the boundary is complete
Swipe horizontally or vertically to begin a line in that direction. Once it extends fully, the area without an obstacle is painted, so the starting position and direction determine what you can gain.
An obstacle being far away when you begin does not guarantee that the line will remain safe. Consider where it may move while the boundary is growing, and avoid contact during that vulnerable moment.
How to play
- Choose Play from the preparation screen. If you want assistance, first read the effects and resource costs of the time, slowdown, and shield items.
- Check the mission percentage and remaining time when the level starts. The opening level asks you to paint 80% of the screen.
- Observe the obstacle's direction and speed. Decide whether a horizontal or vertical cut would separate a useful area.
- Swipe in your chosen direction to create the boundary. Aim for a path that the moving obstacle will not reach before the line finishes.
- Watch the obstacle-free side change color and check your new percentage. Plan the next cut around the unpainted space that remains.
- Reach the mission's required coverage to progress to the next level. Keep the time display and any available protection in mind as you continue.
Choose between a broad cut and a safer step
Capturing a large area can move you quickly toward the target. However, the possible movement of the obstacle still matters while the boundary is being drawn.
Look for moments when an obstacle travels toward one side and leaves the opposite space open to separate. Sometimes a modest cut is a better choice than waiting for a perfect opportunity to claim most of the screen.
Check how much coverage you actually need. If you are close to the mission target, a small finishing area may be enough, and there may be no reason to attempt an unnecessarily ambitious line.
Relearn the space after each success
Every painted area changes the space available to the obstacle. A movement pattern that was easy to read across the full screen may behave differently in a smaller remaining region.
Take a fresh look before the next swipe. Notice the distance to the boundaries and the direction of travel, then place your line using the current situation rather than the layout from a moment ago.
Horizontal and vertical cuts can support one another. Use one to narrow the active region, then consider whether the other direction creates a better opportunity for the next step.
Match an assistance item to your needs
The preparation screen offers TIME to increase the maximum time, SLOW to reduce obstacle speed, and SHIELD to add protection. Each has its own displayed effect and resource cost.
Running short of time and struggling to complete a safe boundary are different problems. Read the item descriptions and decide what you want to improve before choosing an option.
A simple gesture with an engaging decision behind it
Different obstacle speeds and characteristics give familiar cuts new challenges. As your territory expands, the changing colors and seasonal presentation reward each successful boundary with a clearer, more colorful view.
The controls stay straightforward: pick a position, choose a direction, and swipe. The satisfaction comes from reading the movement and watching a planned line turn an open area into yours.
Find a safe moment, complete the next cut, and reach the mission one section at a time. Painting Cut makes every line an opportunity to bring more color to the screen.
