Is this the right moment to stop, or should you wait a little longer? [IQ GAME] Time Sense challenges you to stop a timer as close as possible to a displayed target.
Compare the time you expected with the time that actually passed, and put your own sense of timing to work.
How to play — check, start, and stop
- Read the target before pressing START. Notice the fractional part as well as the whole seconds, and remember the stopping point for this attempt.
- Press START once when you are ready. The button changes to STOP, so the next input will end the measurement rather than begin it.
- Follow the passage of time at your own pace. Press STOP at the moment you judge that the target has been reached.
- Compare the stopped time and the recorded result with the target. Decide whether you acted early or late before adjusting your next attempt.
- Read each new target before starting again. Do not carry the previous target into the next attempt without checking the display.
An example of the time difference
For an imagined target of 7.60 seconds, stopping at 7.40 is 0.20 seconds early, while stopping at 7.80 is 0.20 seconds late. The directions differ, but both are the same distance from the target.
These values are an illustration. Use the requested time and your actual stopped result when judging a real attempt.
Adjust one small thing at a time
If you repeatedly stop early, try waiting a little longer; if you stop late, bring the decision forward slightly. Small changes make it easier to understand how your rhythm affects the result.
You can experiment with counting at a steady pace. Notice whether your counting accelerates or slows during the attempt, and try to maintain the interval you started with.
Look for a pattern across attempts
Rather than remembering only your closest result, check whether several attempts tend in the same direction. Using a similar input device and setup makes comparisons easier. Enjoy the numbers as records of a timing game and use them to guide the next try.
Read the target and press START
Check the requested time before beginning. Once the timer is running, choose the moment you believe is closest to the target and press STOP.
Finishing quickly is not the aim; reducing the difference between your result and the target is what matters.
Find the moment that feels right
The small decision to stop now or wait another beat gives each attempt its tension. You might count at a steady pace or use the feeling of the previous attempt as a reference.
With only a start and a stop to manage, the challenge is in the timing itself.
Use the result for your next attempt
After you stop, the measured time is displayed and the difference is recorded in the result area. Notice whether you stopped early or waited longer than intended.
Then adjust your approach and try again. Comparing attempts can be just as engaging as chasing one close result.
A clear digital display
Large numbers and distinct START and STOP buttons make the controls direct. The result at the top and five record slots let you follow the test as it progresses.
The screen keeps the focus on reading the target and choosing the next stopping point.
